Really Quick Update

Earlier today the NY Rangers announced that they have put White and Kennedy on wavers.

President & GM Glen Sather on his decision:
"Let's say somebody's got a cap problem, and they put a real good player on waivers tomorrow, then we have the room to take a real good player. Maybe in a different position -- maybe you're looking at a defense man that could be there, somebody can't afford to keep him. Then, by opening up this space, we would have room to absorb it. It's just giving us a chance to do something like that, to exercise an option."

OPENING NIGHT ONLY 4 DAYS AWAY!!

Update

Just a quick update for today:

  • Rangers signed Ruslan Fedotenko for 1 year, $1 million dollars
  • Health update on Vinny Prospal: some Rangers sources are saying that Prospal may need season ending surgery. (That would be horrible)
  • Don't forget!!! RANGERS SEASON OPENER ON SATURDAY!
  • I wont be updating until the weekend due to the SAT Saturday and other school work

2010-2011 New York Rangers Roster

The New York Rangers have made two more cuts... McDonaugh and Valentenko have been sent down to the AHL. Both these players did well in camp and pre-season. The fact that they would not need to go through waivers was the difference between them two, and Steve Eminger and Mike Sauer being cut. The Rangers also sent Zuccarello-Aasen and Dale Weise to Hartford.

This leaves the Rangers with 25 players remaining (limit of 23). Rangers solution? Simple. Put Chris Drury and Vinny Prospal on the Injured Reserved to start the season. As each player gets closer to their return, more decisions will have to be made. For now, here is the NY Rangers Roster for opening night.

Forwards:
Artem Anisimov, Sean Avery, Derek Boogaard, Brian Boyle, Ryan Callahan, Erik Christensen, Brandon Dubinsky, Ruslan Fedotenko, Alex Frolov, Marian Gaborik, Tim KennedyBrandon Prust, Derek Stepan, Todd White

Defense:
Michael Del Zotto, Steve Eminger, Matt Gilroy, Dan Girardi, Michal Rozsival, Mike Sauer, Marc Staal

Goalies:
Henrik Lundqvist, Martin Biron

Injured Reserved:
Chris Drury, Vinny Propal
